Bayard and Cornelius self-portrait
|
The similarities and differences in the two photographs is that they're both in black and white and both have men as the subject. I think that the photograph of Robert Cornelius is of just above his shoulders because he is trying to make himself the subject of the photo. I think that the photo of Hippolyte Bayard is of him laying down because he's drowned. Based on how he looks in the photo i would say that Hippolyte Bayard was a poor and serious person. I think this because he doesn't look materialistic or powerful, characteristics normally associated with wealth. In my opinion Robert Cornelius' photo is better. I think this because i feel like it shows his personality more, contrasting Hippolyte Bayard's self portrait where he is presented as more mysterious.

The lighting in this photograph is both very dark and very bright. This image is interesting because it shows both the woman and personality because of her surroundings. Also, although she is in a dark room, the light from the window is hitting her face and making the viewer look at that part of the image. |
